Get Involved
As a parent, you are your child's first teacher. We are committed to communicating with and engaging parents as partners in their children's education. The district has adopted Parent Communications and Involvement Standards, which clearly describe expectations for parent communications and involvement at the district, school, classroom, and home levels. We are also committed to obtaining community resources for our school and invite all members of our community to assist us in the education of our students.
Parents have many opportunities to be involved at their children's school site (for example, governance committees, special events, fundraising events, parent organizations, and in classrooms) and at the district level (for example, district councils/committees, Parent University, and special events). We encourage parents to support their children at home by making their expectations about school clear and creating a positive homework and learning environment.
We at Kimbrough School are committed to obtaining community resources for our school and invite all constituencies to assist us in the education of our students. The Kimbrough staff is committed to increasing community and parent involvement. Our parent room, volunteer and parent patrol programs, and have many active parents. Parent involvement is enriched with weekly parenting in-service training. Our parent literacy room is open daily for our parents to check out books to read at home. We also have many partnerships with the community: Center for Naval Aviation, Technical Training Unit, North Island; Reuben H. Fleet Science Center; Arrow Market; Junior Achievement; and the San Diego Police Department.
