What is Connect2Compete?

Connect2Compete (C2C) is a national not for profit initiative, aiming to bring students and

families online by providing $9.95/month high-speed Internet, low-cost computers and free

digital literacy training to families nationwide. For 2 years, there are no price increases, no

activation fees, and no equipment rental fees associated with the high-speed Internet program.

Who is eligible for high speed Internet through C2C?

Families with at least one child receiving free school lunches through the National School Lunch

Program are eligible for $9.95 Internet and low-cost computer offerings. In addition, for the

Internet offer only, eligible families must not have subscribed to cable Internet within the last 90

days of signing up for C2C and cannot have any outstanding debt with the cable company or

have unreturned equipment.

Who is eligible for $150 refurbished computers through C2C?

All families receiving free lunch are eligible for low-cost computers.

Are families required to take both the computer and Internet offer if they apply for C2C?

No, families may purchase the computer and Internet independently. C2C does not require the

family to take both offers.

Where and when will C2C be available?

Your child's school has been chosen to be a part of the C2C pilot, along with more than 50 other

schools throughout the San Diego metro area. The pilot will have open enrollment until June

30th, 2012. The program will expand to additional schools during the fall.

How do I apply if I think I'm eligible for C2C?

Eligible families will be able to apply online at

www.Connect2Compete.org or by calling toll free

1-855-222-3217.

Will assistance be available to help me register online?

Ask your child's school about how and when you can get assistance with online registration for

C2C.

Do families with children receiving reduced-price (as opposed to free) lunches through the NSLP qualify for C2C?

No, only those with children receiving free school lunches are eligible at this time.

How long can a C2C customer continue to receive reduced-price Internet service through the program?

Families eligible for C2C will receive the reduced-price Internet for 2 years as long as they

remain continuously subscribed the C2C. However, the computer is the family's to keep.

How fast is the home Internet service offered as a part of C2C?

Connect2Compete provides home Internet service with download speeds of 1Mbps and upload

speeds of 384 Mbps.

What forms of payment are accepted for the Internet offer?

Your cable provider accepts checking account, savings account, debit card, credit card, cash or

money order (cash and money order must be done in person at a cable provider store).

What type of computer is offered through C2C and what kind of software does it have?

Eligible families have the option to purchase a refurbished laptop or a desktop system with 17”

LCD monitor, keyboard and mouse, with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office software, a Core 2

Duo 1.86-2GHz processor, 2GB memory, 80GB hard drive, DVD, Ethernet and free shipping for

$150 plus tax.

What forms of payment are accepted for the computer offer?

Redemtech accepts credit, debit and prepaid cards with the Visa, Mastercard, or American

Express logo.
